Overview of the Blast network

Blast is the first layer 2 network with native yield.
In addition to fast transactions with low fees, Blast automatically rewards all generated yield back to its users. Just hold assets on the network to earn. You can also earn BLAST token airdrops by participating in the ecosystem and using various decentralized apps (dapps).
Read below to learn more about the Blast network, how to participate in airdrops, and how to bridge your assets.
Blast is an Ethereum layer 2 network:
Launched in February 2024 by the Blur team
Uses ETH for all transaction fees
In simple terms, a layer 2 network is built on top of a layer 1 network (like Ethereum). Layer 2 networks can process transactions much quicker and cheaper while retaining the security of the layer 1 network. Blast utilizes optimistic rollups, which means it batches multiple transactions and submits them as a single transaction to the Ethereum network. Neat, right?
What makes Blast unique is that users earn native yield on assets they hold on the network.
All bridged assets are deposited into Ethereum and DeFi staking apps, and the generated yield is distributed directly back to users. Simply hold ETH or stablecoins and youâll automatically earn 3-10% APR. Check out the Blast docs to learn more about how it works.
There are 2 key tokens on the Blast network:
BLAST: The networkâs governance token. Holding BLAST allows you to vote on proposals and help make key decisions to shape the ecosystem's future.
USDB: The networkâs native USD stablecoin. Holding USDB automatically earns you yield and your USDB balance will increase over time.
The BLAST token is listed on various exchanges, such as Coinbase. For a list of available exchanges, check out the BLAST CoinGecko listing.
Gold and Points are the Blast networkâs reward program.
You can earn Gold and Points by participating in the Blast ecosystem in various ways. The total amount of Gold and Points you earn determines how many BLAST tokens youâll receive at the end of each airdrop phase. Phase 2 started in June 2024 and ends in June 2025.
Blast Gold: Earn Gold by using various dapps. Each dapp has its own Gold reward system.
Blast Points: Earn Points from holding BLAST, ETH, or USDB, or depositing them into dapps.
To learn more about the airdrop, read Blastâs Phase 2 announcement.
Now, letâs take a quick tour around the Blast site.
The official Blast site is: blast.io
The official Blast bridge is: blast.io/en/bridge
To participate in airdrops, youâll need to register using a referral code (example: blast.io/OE3YY)
After registering, youâll have access to the Airdrop page where you can manage all things Blast. This dashboard shows your balances (BLAST, ETH, and USDB), total Gold and Points earned, Blast dapps, and more.
The Dapp Leaderboard lists various Blast dapps you can use, how many remaining rewards are available, and how many youâve earned from them.
Multipliers increase your Points earnings rate.
On the Multipliers tab, there are 12 different categories thatâll be released throughout the airdrop phase. Complete the task or use a dapp within that category to get the multiplier.
For example: Phase 1 featured a GambleFi category where you could earn a 2x multiplier by depositing any amount into bag.win.
Enter the Gold Jackpot to win your share of the 1,000,000+ Gold prize pool.
On the Gold Jackpot tab, you can add up to 8 tokens and NFTs you hold to your âjackpot deckâ. After every network block, thereâs a small chance the jackpot is triggered and awarded to a random token or NFT. If you have the winning token or NFT in your deck, youâll earn a portion of the Gold.
For example: If you hold BAG and add it to your deck, youâll earn Gold if the BAG token wins the jackpot.
Earn more Points with every person you invite to Blast.
On the Invites tab, you can find your referral link and see your successful referrals. You get a +16% bonus when your invites earn Points, and a +8% bonus whenever their invites earn Points.
You can add Blast as a custom network in any EVM-compatible wallet, such as MetaMask.
How to easily add Blast:
Go to Blastscan.
Scroll to the bottom and click Add Blast Mainnet.
How to manually add Blast to MetaMask:
Open your MetaMask app.
Open the network selection dropdown menu and click Add network.
Click Add a network manually.
Enter Blast networkâs information below.
Click the Save button
You should now be able to connect to Blast by selecting it from your list of networks.
Network Name: Blast
RPC Endpoint: https://rpc.blast.io
Chain ID: 81457
Currency Symbol: ETH
Block Explorer: https://blastscan.io
You can use the official Blast bridge to transfer the following tokens from Ethereum to Blast:
DAI
ETH
stETH
USDC
USDT
WETH
WBTC
Youâll need ETH to pay for the bridgeâs transaction fee and for any transactions on Blast. After bridging stablecoins (DAI, USDC, or USDT), youâll receive an equivalent amount of USDB.
How to use the Blast bridge:
Go to the Blast bridge and connect your wallet.
On the Deposit tab, select the currency you want to deposit.
Enter an amount or click Max.
Click Submit to continue.
Authorize and confirm the transactions in your wallet to complete the transfer.
